The Community Theme is about helping to improve opportunities for residents, build community relations and encourage safety. It also looks at making the best use of community facilities.
PEBL Partnership
The PEBL Partnership’s made up of residents from the Prospect Estate, plus others who want to make a difference and help achieve the PEBL vision that Prospect Estate will be a welcoming, safe, thriving community where individual strengths are recognised, people are actively involved and are proud to live. The Partnership meets monthly to go over what’s happening with the different PEBL projects, consider grant applications, vote on proposals and make decisions.
PEBL Skills Café
Our PEBL Skills Café advisors have helped many Prospect Estate residents get the training they need to find employment, as well as helping with job searching and finding work. The Skills Café also provides volunteering opportunities that help equip job seekers with experience that employers want to see. Come along for practical advice on how to apply for jobs, CV writing, using a computer, how to find training opportunities and much more. Free advice and free refreshments! Every Wednesday 10am – 12.30pm. For further information, please contact the team :

Wellbeing
In 2019 We worked with Talk Plus to run weekly group Wellbeing sessions at the Prospect Community Centre. The sessions received much positive feedback from residents. Each week the sessions had a different them all based on mental health and personal wellbeing. PEBL hopes to arrange some more community Wellbeing sessions as soon as it is safe to do so.
Prospect Community Centre
The Prospect Community Centre now has activities taking place daily and is increasingly becoming a hub for local residents. There’s something going on every day! Whether it’s the PEBL Internet cafe, Skills Cafe or Money Advice; the Friday walking club, or youth group, there are activities for young and old!
PEBL Money Advice
The PEBL Money Advice Service offered free confidential advice for people who were struggling to make ends meet from 2016 until 2020. Free money advice was offered in all areas of money management including banking, budgeting and claiming benefits. Money-related workshops are also run as well as food- tasting sessions based on healthy eating on a budget.

Knit and Knatter
PEBL has been running a Knit and Natter club since March 2017 that enable people to make new friends while knitting and enjoying the company of others. Those present have also very kindly raised money for Cancer and Alzheimer’s charities. Free tea and biscuits provided! Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday from 2-4pm at the Prospect Community Centre.
Supporting Mayfield Community Partnership
PEBL’s actively involved in supporting the Mayfield Community Partnership events. These include their annual Spring Clean of the Prospect Estate, the summer Child Safety Day at which children learn how to stay safe in the community, the MCP Sports Festival and also their Christmas carol service at the Mayfield Community Centre.
Friends of PEBL/ PEBL Volunteers
PEBL wouldn’t happen without the help of Friends of PEBL! These are people who’ve shown an interest in getting involved to make a difference on the Prospect Estate. If you’d like to be a Friend of PEBL, let us know. There are always opportunities to get involved, whether it’s making cups of tea for an event or helping out with the Internet cafe. All are welcome. It’s a great way to meet new people and get involved. If you’d like to become a Friend of PEBL or be a PEBL volunteer we’d love to hear from you.
